Why are harmonica parts never "sung over"??

I don't know if that's the correct term. But basically I realized that EVERY single song I've ever listened to that had a harmonica part in it, was a solo. Whether it was 5 seconds, or 5 minutes. Why is that?? Have I just not found a song where there's harmonica in the background, plus vocals at the same time?? I know a lot of artists happen to sing as well, therefore they obviously can't sing plus play harp at the same time, but still...

Anyone know where I'm coming from??
