Hey Dave,
I think that the Alice Cooper song in question was "Eighteen," which hit the charts back in 1971.
Vincent Furnier (AKA: Alice Cooper) played harmonica.
My guess is that Charlie McCoy provided the harmonica for Merle Haggard.
