I can play single notes well and jump from one note to another non-adjacent note with little difficulty. I can play simple dittys and lots of riffs. Suggestions for Book/CD combo. I have seen many advertised, some at this site. Thanks in advance.
Well Ted it sounds like you have the basics together. I would recommend "Mel Bay's Complete Classic Chicago Blues Harp" and "Jerry Portnoy's Blues Harmonica Master Class" both I own and wont part with. I would think you could start listening to songs and start figuring out where the licks you know might fit or work. What really got me going was jamming to Blues CD's. The primitive stuff like "Willie Dixon", and "Sonnyboy Williamson" are a great place to start. Pick the licks out, see how they fit, learn the changes, and your on your way.
