Why limit yourself to just one approach? I've got several book/tape/cd's and they all have valuable information. There is so much to know and so many methods which work that they can't all be covered in one volume. Use this site, other sites, ask players, read books, listen to music--it's all going to contribute to your repertoire and enjoyment. It's all good!!

: Well Ted it sounds like you have the basics together. I would recommend "Mel Bay's Complete Classic Chicago Blues Harp" and "Jerry Portnoy's Blues Harmonica Master Class.

: I'm about to buy one of these and am leaning toward the Chicago Blues material. I hate to ask you to choose but which would you recommend for an advanced beginner who is approaching the intermediate level. I like Barrets approach from what I've heard off his website but I haven't heard any of Portnoys stuff. I figure I'm going to be living and breathing this material for the next several years and I want to make sure I make the right choice.

: Thanks
