: If I could make a suggestion it would be to start with the cheapest thing first, and that would be to pull your preamp tube which is usually a 12AX7 and replace it with a 12AU7, cost about $5, this will lower the pre amp gain and give you more volume before feedback occurs. The amplification factor of a 12AX7 tube is 100 and the AU is 17. This will not hurt your amp. If not satisfied try a 12AY7 tube, amp factor 40. You say a hot rodded Vibro Champ? Thats scary, amp mods that are great for guitar can be not so great for harp rigs. I have seen EQ`s used but I have never done so. A Silver Face Vibro-Champ makes a really good harp rig. I would recommend trying different mics also. Good Luck to You...

Thanks for the info. I am a guitar player and have several amps settin around--a Fender Pro Junior, the Champ (I put a Torres kit in it several years ago)--I also have a Tech 21 Trademark 60--my main concern was the mic-a 58's probably not the best choice--but it's paid for (also have a SM-57). Any comments on the Ruskin mics?
