If I could make a suggestion it would be to start with the cheapest thing first, and that would be to pull your preamp tube which is usually a 12AX7 and replace it with a 12AU7, cost about $5, this will lower the pre amp gain and give you more volume before feedback occurs. The amplification factor of a 12AX7 tube is 100 and the AU is 17. This will not hurt your amp. If not satisfied try a 12AY7 tube, amp factor 40. You say a hot rodded Vibro Champ? Thats scary, amp mods that are great for guitar can be not so great for harp rigs. I have seen EQ`s used but I have never done so. A Silver Face Vibro-Champ makes a really good harp rig.
