I'm using a Green Bullet mic. How should I balance between amp and mic volume? It seems like turning up mic volume will send more signal to the amp. I need a starting point and will work from there.

Malcolm,
The vast majority of players will turn the mic all the way up and adjust the amp accordingly. This gives you the maximum amount of overdrive from the mic. Many guitarists and bass players do the same thing with their instruments.
Because of this fact, I typically only use mics with an on/off switch. I don't care for anything in the middle. I make any volume adjustments at the amp or use my breathing for dynamics changes. It's all or nothin' baby.

Thanks for the info. I'll work from there. I'm considering getting a Pignose 40 amp. I've heard good things. I tried a friends old Crate tube amp but it was so hot I could barely play through it without getting feedback, even with Mid & High EQ down all the way.
