My 18th birthday fell last saturday and I got a JSH "The Blues" harmonica in the key of B as a present from a mate, well, I'm hooked already and annoyed many a person attempting to play it around them.
The lessons on this site are great! I already can accomplish a clean single note at least 50% of the time and I've started playing simple melodies. (I learnt Mary had a little lamb, and worked out "God save the queen" (so patriotic), and Twinkle Twinkle little star) (playing with the whistle method)
I have a couple of questions, I've noticed that drawing (Is this the right word for breathing in on a note) on hole 1 and 2 on my hormonica produces a very metallic "razzy" note on hole 1, and a "train whistle" type sound on draw 2. drawing on 3 produces a milder effect as on 2. But then from 4 upwards the harmonica seems to perform fine. Might this be a technique error? Also anyone know anything about my make of harmonica? Any good? :-S
Finally, I play tuba as my primary instrument, would playing the harmonica effect my hombesure(sic) for tuba? I'm a high level on tuba and don't want my playing to suffer from playing harmonica.
Anyways, thank very much for any help/advice you can give to a keen young player! :)
