Plaing a chromatic in "2nd position" employs the Dorian scale. This is a scale mode very close to the blues scale... it's got some minor tone and some major.. Your band should be playing blues in D


If you use A as your tonic note (the band playing in A) then you'd be playing in A minor (pure minor)
