I played diatonics for 2 years and picked up a Chromatic 2 years later. Much more difficult, but has really helped my diatonic ability. Super 64 is cool. I started with a 270 and ruined it (soaked it in denture cleaner) and now play a Hohner CX12 that I LOVE. Try emailing charlie Musselwhite or Rod Piazza and ask their opinions.
I don't do it for the sound, I do it for the experience.
