I am a sax player with a fair amount of music theory background who is learning to double on harp. This may sound a little strange, but I'm struggling with how to approach learning the new instrument. For example, should I be thinking in terms of chords and positions (I, IV, V, etc.) or should I be concentrating on learning the actual note names across the full range of the instrument?
My gut tells me that I should go with the first method since I'll be changing between several harps.
Any suggestions, or am I just thinking too hard?
