: Hi! First of, picking which harp you want to get depends on what kind of music you want to play. If you are more interested in classical and really advanced jazz music, you may want to pick up the chromatic. However, if you like the blues stuff and stuff that you hear on the radio like Aerosmith's harp solos and Blues Traveler's solos, then you want a diatonic, which is much cheaper anyway. And to sterilize the harp, run a mixture of water and (rubbing) alchohol through it, then dry it well. This is what I was told to do, and I hope it worked! I hope this helps. Later.

Check out the FAQs- Repair and Modification section here for some help on cleaning and sanitizing harmonicas. Chromatics are extremely touchy and should never be soaked because it ruins the windsavers. The FAQ I was referring to also talks about cleaning the mouthpeices of chromatics. Oh yes, and never rubbing alcohol, use Hydrogen Peroxide, it won't hurt you at all but santizies great.

Good luck,
Bill
