: ive got my first gig next week playing on a couple of tunes with my mates rock band. what is the best technique for using a mic? please email me any experienced mic players with any advice at all. cheers!

You sound British,so I guess you'll need a transformer to go to 210. j/k
2 ways. Either going through an amp-rig set up or directly through the PA. Cup the mike with both hands, this creates a hollow pocket and allows for a BIGGER SOUND. You really ought to play through one prior to just jumping up there, one thing's for sure feedback is a bitch and most times the harp can't be heard over the band. Go to an open mic first dude, then you have at least SOME experiance. The harp is an instrument too not a kazoo toy. If the band is in E (ask bassist) then play crossharp in A for bluesy tones. Good luck.
