Howard is using a tongue blocking technique or two on that tape (but I've only heard it once and that was about 3 years). To play a rhythm and melody at the same time read the ADV Tech- Tongue Blockin- Houu-la-las on this site. Another technigue used is tongue-switching where you move you're tongue back and forth and change the emphasis of the higher and lower tongue blocked note. None of this stuff is hard, it just takes some practice. Never heard Carlos, but its all the same techniques. Keep in mind, in the recording studio, some people use multiple tracks.
: Howard Levy and Carlos del Junco (who was taught by Howard) both play two songs at the same time on diatonic. Anybody know what the "trick" is...Carlos says it's a kind of trick situation but I never heard if he elborated on this. Thanks.
