: Yeah, I was looking at lens and thinking drill but knew no way was I going to be able to drill the lens and make it look right. I've got an element out of a hand-held cb mic I was going to use.
: Element is a little small (diameter), but will build it up some how to make it fit.
: Plan on just using a mono jack, seems to be the easy and clean way to go. I just put a mono jack in an old Controlled magnetic Green Bullet. I use a 20' guitar cord with built-in on/off switch on one plug. It works great for bullets without on/off or volume control. Got it on ebay for $11.00 brand new. They need a twelve step program for mic addicts! LOL
I made a mic out of an old CB mic too. I used the foam insulation, the king they use around doors and windows with one sticky side to wrap around the element. I kept wrapping it around till it was slightly bigger then the size of the opening then just squeezed it in. It worked great, keeps the little element in the center and holds it there.
