I have been practicing long and hard, and now I am geting ready to play on stage. In preparing for this, I have been experimenting with my mic, a medium quality standard sized vocal and instrument mic, and my amp, a small Fender. In doing so, I find that I really don't care for the technique of holding the mic in my hand...true, you get the best volume, but it is very awkward, and even though I know I'll get more used to it the more I do it, I really don't want to, first because you spend all this time working on your hand technique and then you literally throw a monkey wrench into it, and second because there doesn't seem to be any way to get a strong tremelo/vibrato effect, at least not with my mic.
I've considered either getting a much more powerful amp that will pick up my playing well from a few inches away, or maybe getting one of those pickup type mics...Anyway, I sure could use some advice from some players who have faced and overcome these problems...TIA...eddie
