Sounds like it could be a breathing thing. There is a good piece of advise in the featured articles section by Jon Gindick "An Important Exercise For Those First Few Moments You Have
A Harmonica In Your Mouth". Print this article and follow it exactly for your next practise. It really helped me with the breathing.
