: I recently dicovered (the hard way) that I am allergic to nickel. I prefer Special 20s (for plastic combs and the price)but the cover plates are nickel coated which causes a reaction (much like chapped lips). The Hohner Pro Harp and Cross Harp come with black plates that do not cause a reaction but only come in limited keys.
: Any recomendations on paint to coat my existing Special 20 plates with that is non-toxic and/or won't rub off? Any suggestions on other harps? Tried the Turbolid but I think I prefer the smaller feel of the harp to the way it feels with the Turbolid on it (it feels a bit larger).

: Thanks

: In the harm section of this web site there are quite a few different keys for the proharp...
but you like the 20... Paint? What about auto-
motive paint? The paint on my Pro peeled off after soaking in isopropyl alcohol...try like
auto acrylic, the kind used by air brush artists.
It has to stick to nickel, though there primer
might help as well as there additives like bonding
agent and finally clear coat.
