they are both made to play a major scale when playing in 2nd pos. Both have the 5 and 9 draw hole notes tuned up a half step to complete the major scale. The Melody Maker also has a retuned 3 blow so that you don't have to bend down 3 draw to play a major scale. There is more on the Melody Maker in the store on this site in the product description.
Personally, I take standard Lee Oskars and tune the 5 draw up a half step myself and call it a day. It takes about 10 minutes. I don't like the change on the 3 blow, it defeats the purpose of 2nd position and the bending sound.
