Slobber? No way! You don't need to Juanita. It'll come in time though and it takes practice. I find having a drink bottle of water on hand when I play harp helps. I take a drink every so often to wet my mouth being careful not to over drink so I don't become too full to play harp comfortably.
Vaseline? No way! I think in playing a tune you need to work out when the times to pause for a breath are. Its then too that you can lick your lips to wet them.
