Yesterday I was reading a story about Jean Baptiste
"Toots" Thielsman in an old issue of DownBeat. It men-
tioned this one musician, innovator, inventor...
A. Rotillini who developed a free reed instrument and cousin of the harmonica called the "Goofus". Toots
had the pleasure of playing with him and other select
musicians at some point in his life. The story goes on to mention that the Goofus paved the way for the use of
the harmonica in the blues, down south in Mississippi
Delta. If this is accurate Rosillini must have been in his Golden years when he and Toots met. This cat was
from Italy. Are these Goofus' still around?
