: hey i have what i believe to be a diatonic harp in key of 'c'. my brother got it given to him years ago and i am sure its a cheap piece of crap, mainly cause it was made in china and the engraving is very poor. I have been playing for a month or 2 and i still cant get 2B to come out right, i can bend it, but cant play it straight. i know that 98% of the time its the player, but it could be my harp, couldn't it? would it be worth buying a 'proper' harmonica?
Most of us go through a period in our musical progress, when we blame the instrument...instead of ourselves.
Sometimes it is the instrument that is the source of the problem, but as Shaggy has put it, the source of the problem is usually the player.
My suggestion is that you get a decent harmonica. I have played some great instruments with encouraging results, but then there are those other instruments...
"Made in China" could trnslate to "Buyer Beware."
Hang in there!
