You didn't do anything wrong because tuning won't fixed blown reeds. Tuning reeds only works well when the harmonica is new (or near-new) and the tuning is off for your ear or you are creating a special tuning. If a reed goes way flat on you, it's blown with a hairline crack in it (which usually is not visible) and you need to replace the reed, reed plate, or the harmonica.

: The other day I blew out the 4 draw on my A Harp. So I got out my Lee Oskar Tool Kit to try to tune it. This is the first time I've ever tried to tune a harmonica. Little by little, I chiseled away at the end of the reed until it was in tune. However, when I put it back together I bent the note a couple of times. Each time I could hear it go more and more out of tune until it was as flat as when I started. Does anyone know what I did wrong? Is this common?
