: : I have just purchased a Melody Maker and I understand that you can play crossharp melodies in second position. I understand that to do this if you are in the key of C, you have to have a C melody maker. My question is, do you still play the melody like you were in 1st position?

i have 2 mm go to the lee oscar web site and find the note diagrams for the mm and the major diatonic if you compare an A major diatonic with its cross its a E cross harp so, i believe having a E mm is the same as having a A major diatonic harp except 3 notes are changed to more effectively play melody. but both harps will sound almost exactly the same except for 2 holes which you have to bend down.
