Good Question; I started playing harp a long time ago, my reason I was very impressed the first time I heard a harp. Actually it was more than very impressed, I was totally blown away.
2. Do you ever get in ruts? & how do you get out of them? Not so much any more, but at first, often. What I use to do do when in a rut is stop playing for a few days, maybe a week, this would work for me, I would start playing fresh again. When your playing is limited you are working with limited skills ( a small number of phrases and techniques ) you are bound to repeat your mistakes often and get them down to habit as you would your good traits. This can be very frustrating, a small break can be helpful, while on break I would listen to lots of great harp music to help fill my mind with the way it should be done.
