the way I see it there are two main blues progressions: 1) standard and 2) what I call "the quick IV". The IV is the C chord in the key of G. So for G this means "the quick C"
legend: F(8) = an F chord with 8 beats
Standard Blues in G:
G(8) C(4) G(4) D(4) C(4)
turnaround G(2) C(2) G(2) D(2)
The quick IV in G:
G(4) C(4) G(8) C(4) G(4)
turnaround G(2) C(2) G(2) D(2)
There are very many variations of this but these are the two most common. I hope this helps.
