: My son and I have a number of Golden Melodies. We decided to give them a good cleaning and found that the brass is held to the comb using brass nails. Well, at least they look like nails. Well, this seems like a bad idea. We clean our special 20's by removing the brass from the comb and soaking the plastic comb is hydrogen peroxide. Having brass nails holding the brass to the comb on the Golden Melody seems to make it impossible to do this. Anybody no why Hohner using these kind of fasteneres on the Golden Melody and is there a way to get brass screws to fit in place of the nails?
If you can find a dependable repairman he can take out the nails and replace them with screws. You may be able to do this yourself with a little trouble. Careful, I have sent in a 64 chromatic which also has nails, and wanted them replaced with screws. It took almost a year. Bob Green
