Inversions add "color" or change the feel of the song, to me. A chord played on the highr end of the neck will sound /feel different than if played on the lower end. It will be easier for some inversions to throw in licks as well. Same for harp I've found. Hitting the I on the upper registry rather than the lower adds some flavor sometimes. That's my take anyway.
: I have been brushing up on my theory, and am unsure as to the exact purpose of and the appropriate way to insert a chord inversion within the basic three chord blues structure. Can anyone help?
