1st is much easier but 2nd will sound better. If you're new, stick with 1st until you get the bends down. But what you're asking is like saying you just got a tennis racquet and how do you sign up to play in the Olympics. Bluegrass is hard.

: I want to start playing Irish and American Fiddle Bluegrass tunes and was wondering what would be the most recommended playing position? Would it be #1 or should I look at the #2 cross type playing? I am not familiar with all the correct terminology since I am a newbe. I figured if I know some bluegrass tunes in the Key of D , G, & A that I should buy harmonicas in these keys instead of buying a harmonica in another key and playing it in a 2nd position or 3rd etc positions. Any advice?
