I've been using a Zoom 505 pedal for harp effects... It includes 9 kinds of distortion, (including blues and tube overdrive) with 30 levels of gain, as well as chorus, reverb, delay, pitch shift, etc. Even better, you can find these things for a song (I got mine for $30) I'll probably replace it with a higher quality effect later, but it really helps out my small solid-state amps.
