angled harp a problem?

when i first starting playing a couple of years ago, i was having the common trouble with single note stuff. after studying the shape of my mouth and the shape of the harp's holes, i determined it would be easier to play if i held the harp vertically as opposed to horizontally--it worked.

of course, moving the harp vertically was kinda awkward and i have found the happy medium to be to play the harp at about a 30 degree angle.

the question: what i am missing because of this? i figure i should eventually go back and learn the proper technique, but why?
