The "D" harmonica will play exactly like the "C" harmonica. The big difference is that the 2nd position on the "D" would be for blues in the key of "A", but the "C" would be for blues in the key of "G". Sooner or later you will want a "C" and other keys also, so that you can play to music in different keys. Check out some of the FAQs at this site, they are pretty good.
