I knew a guy who did teach me a little, but only in the way of critiquing and showing me how he did what he did, musically. The only reason I tend to shun 'lessons' is because all of the techniques and styles of harp playing there are, are only knowable by listening to them. I learned to bend and warble by listening to and struggling with the sound until I did it with no audible distinction betwen mmyself and the player I was listening to. Once you get technique- your technique- down, you can only get better from there. I often feel as though I might need lessons
but actually what I need to do is play more, and clean up my style. Some technique you just gotta be careful with and keep everything tight. Also
is the fact that each player has a 'signature' in their style: Eg; Wanna choke? Check Burnette. Warbles and tight bends? Rice Miller. Deep Bends?
Little Walter. High end harp? Jimmy Reed.
Now take all this stuff and find you way through things and after a while you'll find that you have a signature yourself.
