: Recently, my lips have been slightly cut by my harp.
: Does anyone know if this is normal?
I've not gone as far as cuuting my lips, but I have had problems with the left side of the Lee Oskar's and Hohner Special 20's. Check the cover plate corners where they are die cut and formed, sometimes there can be a small burr or just a sharp edge. I have already sanded these down with some emery polishing cloth, be aware of any loose particles that may get under a reed you may have to clean your harp out after doing this. I've also considered replacing my harps with the Hohner Golden Melodies or the the Suzuki Bluesmasters. These harps have a stamped coverplate that extends all the way to the edge of the harp. I also think we both need to learn to relax our mouths a little so we're not clamping down on these edges so much. I hope this helps.
