: i just startted to play and my friends say that jon poper is the best player in the world. is this true. i havent heard anyone that plys as fast. thanks. this is a really coool site- jay

Welcome to the great world of the harmonica! Popper is a great player, he's brought the harmonica to a new level in speed; a sort of Alex VanHalen of harmonica. However, no one would deny that BB King is a great player in his own venue: blues. So "the best" is a little narrow minded in the expansive world of the harmonia. Take a listen to Carlos DelJunco, Little Walter, Toots Thielemans, Adam Gussow.... (there is a very long list of great players!) Playing is much more than speed. It's color, tone, nuance, space, time, attack, refrain...

All this is what keeps the harmonica interesting. So keep your intrest alive!
