Dear Laura,
I know that you are already on a good start, because you're checking out this site!
I presume that you are reading music. If so, no matter how frustrating your efforts might be, you are already taking the right path to becoming a proficient musician. As I've said before, learn to read standard music, but it'd also also be to your advantage to learn how to read tab and to play by ear as well. This may sound like a tall order, but with practice, you will be pleasantly surprised to discover how rapidly you can progress.
Maybe you need to find some books which will further stimulate your musical interest, motivate your efforts and and encourage you along the way.
Find some musicians to get together with. It's a lot of fun to play with others. By playing with others, you can improve dramatically.
Have fun with your harmonica (along with any other instruments that you play).
And one more piece of advice, check out this site thoroughly and frequently.
Wishing you success in your endeavors,
Patrick
