On 99% of everything that I've heard he (Sonny Boy -- by the way there are two of them, but they both play the same harmonica) plays the standard 10 hole diatonic, the same instrument that this site is dedicated to. The only exception that I can think of is a song called Bye Bye Bird (I think that's the name) where he plays a 12 or 14 hole Marine Band.

Mick Jagger plays a lot of the harp on the Stones albums. Not all, but a lot. Some of the more difficult stuff (like "Miss You") was farmed out to more accomplished harmonica players (Sugar Blue in that case). Again, virually all of it is played using the standard 10-hole.
