some music stores (Sam Ash for one) carries a spray that they use to steralize harps with plastic bodies. They actually let you try plastic bodied harps. Wooden cannot be "steralized" because any bacteria/virus will soak into the wood. I wouldn't chance soaking a wooden harp unless it's to get that smoother, fatter sound. In that case use water. This greatly reduces the harp's life however. This was common among older players way back when.
: I've been having a hankering to try a chromatic harp, but don't want to spend the money when I might end up liking my diatonics better.
: Then I saw people selling some chromatics on ebay for very good prices. Some been used, some not.
