: I purchased an Oskar Diatonic in A a few days ago. I immediately noticed that the Draw 2 really sounded weird - like a dying cat - in fact the only way I could get any sound out of it was to draw very easily and then the sound was hardly audible. I've been playing for around a year and have never had this problem on the Hohners. This was my first Oskar. After a few days of playing on it - it still won't sound. Has anyone else experienced this on an Oskar. I bought it here in Manhattan and want to return it if it is defected. Of course it could be my technique, but I've never had this trouble before. Thanks

I had the exact same problem!! I had Hohners (in C) and got an Oskar in A and could not get a sound out of 2D for anything. I ended up taking it apart and fiddling with the reed and trying different draw techniques. It took about a week before I could get a decent sound with regularity. In retrospect, I wondered if it was my technique all along. The A is a lower key, so the lower notes are correspondingly harder to play.
The trick that finally got me over the hump was to practice blowing 2 while being COMPLETELY relaxed, then inhaling in the same relaxed fashion. Also think of the air as coming in and out of the throat, rather than the mouth or lungs. I'm interested to hear your results.
Blow your brains out,
