I got a Hering Blues about a year ago and loved it. I broke it by accident and ordered a replacement. It arrived with a dead 4 hole so I asked for that to be replaced with a Black Blues but Cs weren't available so I asked for a Golden Blues and only Gs were available. I really liked the original one I had but my subsequent experiences have not been good. And you are right when you say the only difference is the cover plates.
The two harps I've been ab(using) the most lately are a Suzuki Bluesmaster (A) and a Huang Star Performer (C). They are total opposites but I just like them -- and I'm pretty sure that's the important thing.
