I think the 270 has a better sound and it a better quality instrument. More pros play the Hohner chromatics than any other by far. I like the Lee O's for diatonics and the Hohner 12 holes for chroms. If you end up playing a lot of chromatic, try different brands and styles and see what YOU like. The key of C is the way to go for anyone playing chromatic unless they have a very specific reason why not. I gather you don't. I hope this helps.
