I recognize your problem. When you start off it's hard to directly put in that blues tune.
What I did was trying to play along with songs that I liked and that contained straight harp playing.
In my case I started out with some Neil Young stuff from his Harvest album.
It's not the real blues sound but it was fun anyway and helps you to focus on getting that clear single note.
