: Which harp would give the richest tone for blues cross-harp playing: The hohner marine band, blues or cross harp?
Each is a wonderful blues instrument, each with its own characteristics. So get em all and see which you like best. A marine band is a little leaky (not air tight). The Blues harp has a unique wood comb and sturdy reeds, made for bending; the Cross is similar, but with a plastic comb.
While there are numerous great harps out there, don't worry too much about which is the best. If you have a decent harp: any you've mentioned or the Special 20, Susuki blues, Lee Oskar, Hardwood Harp.... Play it, know its uniqueness and coax the best tone you can out of it. Play, play, play.
