"Coldplay - Don't Panic"

LAST EDITED ON Jun-06-06 AT 09:29 AM (PST) by webmaster (admin)

Hello all,

I'm just wondering if someone can tell me what key this tune is in. iTunes link: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=14755159&s=143460&i=14755110

I've been trying to work out the key but I'm still fairly poor at doing this. With the recording it seems to sound okay with either an A or C harp.

I'm using a tab (for the solo) of:

5 6 -5 5 5 6 -5 5 -4 4
5 6 -5 5 5 6 -5 5 -5 5 -4 4

I've also just started this on guitar too. It begins and ends with a Fmaj7 chord but also uses Am, Dm and C if that helps.

Dave, could you please update the thread title accordingly?

Thanks mate.

Bennett,

The portion of the song I heard appears to be in the key of A minor. Since A minor is the relative minor to the key of "C" Major, I can understand your confusion -- these keys are very close in sound.

I would use the key of "C" diatonic in 1st/4th Position (relative major and minor keys) to begin with. In 4th Position you would resolve on the hole 6 Draw.
4th Position info-

You could also try a key of "G" diatonic in 3rd position for fun.

I have seen that error message before, but I'm guessing it has to do with the addition of the quotes.

Play on,
Dave Gage

Thanks so much for the information, Dave.

I'd forgotten entirely about relative minors.

Will certainly check out the info on 3rd and 4th positions as that's very new to me.
