hitchin' home from college..van stops & relieves me of pack (w/harp) & guitar after some deception...grab onto ladder on back extending from roof, & we're off fishtailing at 70+ mph passing cars..I yell I'll drop off...they stop, & I don't get off fast enough, 'cause shots ring out...I let go & a phone guy working atop a pole below phones it in quickly...cop shows up an hour later & threatens to make me a guest at city's expense...politefully decline, get out of patrol car, spark one, then get back up at the same spot the van & I parted ways w/ extended thumb...
