"What are those students doing wrong on the 2Draw?"

I'm a teacher in Amsterdam. I've been teaching a lot of students the basics of bluesharp, and a particular problem pops up with a few of them. They have trouble playing the 2nd hole Draw. They overdo it, they bend it, they draw a lot of "false air" (is that the expression?). The strange thing is: they play great 1st, 3rd and 4th hole Draw-notes.

So what is so special about the 2nd hole Draw that beginners have trouble with? Any experience with that problem? And what is the tip to overcome it?

Jervis,

That is indeed one of the top 5 problems/questions we've had at this site. About 95 out of a 100 people will encounter this breathing/bending issue. Unintentional sucking with the lips and bending is the cause. In fact, at some point I had to create a whole page to cover the problem in real detail. Here it is-

Play on,
