Dave,

Bending is not only difficult for everyone that ever picks up a diatonic, but is especially difficult without good vertical slot single notes and without having someone who can listen to supply feedback as to how well you are doing and if you are heading down the right path. (Don't get me started on the quality of the free instruction at Youtube, but in most cases, you get what you pay for.)

To really get bending quickly and correctly, it's a two step process:

1. Start with correct information and tips in learning to bend. Get the sound in your head first and then play around with it until you believe you are making the correct bending sound.

2. Get feedback as soon as you can as to whether you are heading down the right path or not. Most new players can't tell if they are actually bending or merely changing the sound in a different way.

For number 1, if you haven't already taken at at these videos or read these pages, please take a look first-

For number 2, stop by one of the live online classes we offer (free for all members) that allow you to play and receive real-time feedback and tips by Dave Gage. The "General Q & A Workshop", "Bending Workshop", and "Playing Critiques" will all work for this purpose.

For number 2, if you can't make a live class or prefer private 1-on-1 lessons, you can purchase them here at an additional cost-

(if you have a Year Membership or upgrade to one, you receive a free private lesson with your membership- http://www.harmonicalessons.com/pricing.html).

I hope this helps.
